When you’re hungry and don’t feel like sitting around to wait, few things hit the spot like a massive Philly cheesesteak. There’s something about the heaping mounds of shredded beef, cheese, and the soft bun. Whether you prefer your cheesesteak with Cheese Wiz or you swap it out for some spicy Pepper Jack, the combo of steak and cheese is unlike anything else. While there are several locations around metro Phoenix to grab the classic sandwich, there’s unfortunately one fewer, as a popular hangout spot in Tempe closed down for good.

The location at 1807 East Baseline Road (Suite 101) has become a bit of a restaurant ghost zone, as the last two restaurants to move in have closed rather quickly. Philly’s Sports Grill, which runs various locations around the Valley, opted to move into the open space late last summer. Unfortunately for fans of the local chain, the restaurant has closed, with no reason as to why.

The Facebook page for the Baseline address hasn’t been updated since last November, so there is little to glean from its social media presence. The address on the official Philly’s Sports Grill website has also been removed. Regardless, fans of the Philly restaurant will now need to head elsewhere.

The good news though is there are still five other locations scattered around the Valley, including one remaining in Tempe, so for those who crave a frosty pint paired with a cheesesteak, they won’t have to travel far.

The menu at all of the restaurants is the same. If you have not been to one in the past, all five remaining locations are, as you might expect, Philadelphia sports-themed, and a good spot to head to if you’re a fan of the Eagles, 76ers, Phillies, or one of the other regional teams. While there, you can grab something from the starter menu that includes fries, onion rings, fried pickle chips, chili pork nachos, boneless wings, or grilled cheese bites.

The pizza menu features a Deluxe (pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, bell peppers, mushrooms, black olives, and mozzarella cheese), Meat Lover’s (bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and Canadian bacon), Margherita, as well as various calzones. And, naturally, there is a large cheesesteak menu. Each cheesesteak is eight inches and served on Amoroso rolls. Options included the Slow Roasted Pork Philly, The “Original” Philly (this one comes with the cheese whiz), the Prime Rib Philly, the Three Topping Philly, and the Traditional.
