    Summit County projected to see thunderstorms, high temperatures early this week

    Summit County residents seeking a brief respite from the recent run of hot temperatures are in luck as the beginning of the week calls for rain, according to the National Weather Service.

    While temperatures as projected to reach as high as 91 degrees Monday, the rest of the week brings slightly cooler weather, with the high being 77 degrees on Thursday.

    Here's a look at this week's weather:

    What's the forecast for Summit County this week?

    Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between noon and 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 95. West wind 13 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Monday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a low around 74. South wind 5 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Tuesday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 8 a.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87. Southwest wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Tuesday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

    Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

    Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62.

    Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 77.

    Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

    Friday: Sunny, with a high near 81.

    Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.

    Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85.
