Michael Ealy has had the internet in a frenzy ever since he was seen giving Meagan Good a big hug and lifting her in the air in the presence of her boyfriend, Jonathan Majors . Gabrielle Union came up in the conversation, and the actress reacted to what has now become a big debate.

People compared Ealy’s intimate greeting to J. Cole giving Union a handshake while in the presence of her husband, Dwyane Wade , during the 2019 NBA All-Star Weekend festivities. Cole took a photo with the couple, gave Wade a handshake, and then did the same with Union.

One X user wrote “This how you do it. Don’t lift my girl up. Dap her up like another ni**a.” Union seemingly agreed with the sentiment as she posted several laughing emojis and skull emojis, the latter of which is often colloquially used to signify laughter as well.

Michael Ealy’s video came off a lot more nefarious to Twitter users. The clip showed him hugging Meagan Good and lifting her up into the air while Jonathan Majors stood by silently. However, users soon learned that the clip was truncated and did not show the full interaction. Ealy actually greeted Majors first and then he embraced Good. She addressed the misrepresentation of the situation via social media.

“So we’re just gonna edit out the first part of the video where Jonathan and Micheal exchange a big hug first and then speak life over each other — ‘before’ he gives me a big brother hug?” she wrote. “Lol smh super unfortunate how people don’t have anything better to do than project on others and intentionally perpetuate negative misguided commentary on life snippets they have no real context to. It’s sad. Sigh. But still, God bless yall.”

Despite the truth coming out, the internet still had its fun. Druski even commented on the situation as it related to a skit he made a few years back titled “Insecure Boyfriends HATE When Its Their Girlfriends Birthday.” In the skit, he sat next to his girlfriend at her birthday dinner while one of her male friends walked in and gave her a big hug. The male friend even told him “You got a good girl right here” which made him perplexed. Though the scenarios weren’t the same, the comedian still chimed in. “WE ALL BEEN THERE BROTHER,” he wrote on X with laughing emojis.
