WWE signed Stephanie Vaquer, a CMLL And NJPW champion, and after debuting at a live event, is she headed to NXT, RAW or SmackDown?

It wasn’t all that long ago when Stephanie Vaquer was the free agent Belle of the Ball, so to speak. She had an amazing showing at AEW’s most recent Forbidden Door event, against former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone. And by amazing, we mean she looked a lot sharper than the overpriced AEW addition . And since then, both AEW and WWE were in hot pursuit. Honestly, her decision to sign came far more rapidly than I had expected, but she did decide to join WWE.

Given she is no rookie, would she just leap to RAW or SmackDown? Or would WWE have her do some manner of time in NXT ? Looking at some signings over the years, even some seasoned veterans joining (or re-joining) WWE spent time with NXT. Drew McIntyre, Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka all had extensive experience, and all spent time in NXT (and won titles there, too). Most recently, Dragon Lee was a hyped signing. Surely capable of working with the main roster right away, he enjoyed a short stint in NXT before being called up.

Vaquer made her WWE in ring debut during the company’s ongoing tour of Mexico. In her first official, but not televised, WWE match, the debuting Vaquer got a victory over one half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Isla Dawn. Big win over an established main roster talent, so surely she’s heading to RAW or SmackDown , right?

    Wrong

Following her debut, Stephanie Vaquer put the NXT women on notice, recording a video shared via WWE social media, saying that she would see the black and gold brand soon. Which, for those of you keeping score at home, gives the NXT women some seriously crazy depth and skill right now. I won’t go so far as to say it is rivaling that time when those behind the Women’s Revolution called NXT home. But, between Vaquer and Giulia, the company has serious international talent incoming.

And that’s on top of names like Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade. With up and coming talent like Sol Ruca and Kelani Jordan-names who just delivered a superb match, with a grand total of like, five years in ring experience between the two former gymnasts. And that’s with me skipping over quite a few names. Without counting chickens before they’ve hatched, the company seems to have set up the women’s ranks to have strong talent for years to come.

So, do you think WWE made the right call by brining Stephanie Vaquer to NXT first, and not RAW or SmackDown?
