Keith Mitchell enters the week outside the top 80 in the Official World Golf Ranking, but he finds himself atop the odds board for the 2024 Barracuda Championship, which is the lone modified stableford event of the season. Mitchell is 20-1 in the 2024 Barracuda Championship odds, sitting ahead of Michael Thorbjornsen (22-1) and Erik van Rooyen (22-1). Golfers are awarded points for their score on each hole, with birdies and eagles being critical to success in the modified stableford scoring format. There are 156 golfers in the 2024 Barracuda Championship field at Tahoe Mountain Club in California.

Mitchell played in this event for the first time last year, missing the cut. He also missed the cut in the Scottish Open last week, so should you avoid him with your 2024 Barracuda Championship bets? Before locking in your 2024 Barracuda Championship picks, be sure to see the PGA predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

Our proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,000 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters -- its third Masters in a row -- and this year's PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now with the 2024 Barracuda Championship field locked in, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times, and the results were surprising. Head to SportsLine now to see the projected leaderboard .

    Top 2024 Barracuda Championship predictions

One major surprise the model is calling for at the Barracuda Championship 2024: Michael Thorbjornsen (22-1), who has the second-shortest odds in the field, stumbles this week and fails to record a top-three finish. He failed to capitalize on a weak field at the ISCO Championship last week, missing the cut at 1 over. Thorbjornsen has missed the cut in two of his four events this season since making his professional debut last month.

He finished atop the 2024 PGA Tour University Ranking, earning Tour membership status through the end of the 2025 season. However, he has now missed the cut in five of seven tournaments dating back to last season, so it is difficult to justify his position near the top of the odds board this week. The model has Thorbjornsen failing to crack the top three, recommending other golfers with more favorable odds instead. See the model's full leaderboard here .

How to make 2024 Barracuda Championship picks

The model is also targeting four golfers with odds of 60-1 or longer who will make a strong run at the title. Anyone who backs these longshots could hit it big. You can only see the model's picks here .
