House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 5 “Regent” ends with Rhaenyra Targaryen ( Emma D’Arcy ) and her son Jace ( Harry Collett ) flirting with the idea of letting nobodies with Targaryen blood try their hand at taming a dragon. After all, there are at least three unclaimed dragons hanging out at Dragonstone, and since Aemond ( Ewan Mitchell ) and his massive dragon Vhagar now run Team Green, it’d be nice for Team Black to have some back up. Now, HBO ‘s new preview for House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 teases that, yup, Rhaenyra is going to try to let randos claim dragons.

However, the new teaser for House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 gives us a first look at even more drama unfolding for the Targaryens. While Rhaenyra sets off on her wild plan to enlist more dragonriders, Team Green is worried about Daemon’s (Matt Smith) recent moves in the Riverlands. Alicent (Olivia Cooke) is attempting to get closer to Aemond (Ewan Mitchell) and Rhaenyra realizes she needs to make peace with her estranged husband shacked up at Harrenhal.

What’s In The House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 Preview?

The House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 6 preview opens, as we established, with Rhaenyra seemingly moving forward with her plans to invite Targaryen bastards, or dragonseeds, to attempt to claim the likes of Vermithor, Silverwing, and perhaps even Seasmoke. “It has never been attempted before,” Rhaenyra says in voiceover as we get a glimpse of various locations in Dragonstone. The rattling breath of a dragon sighs. “To claim a dragon you must also be prepared to die,” Rhaenyra says. We then see the leader of Team Black standing on Dragonstone’s convenient dragon runway and then in deep thought on a balcony. “Perhaps the gods will favor us,” she muses.

A title card reads, “On the next House of the Dragon .” We see a cocky Daemon talking to what appears to be Alys Rivers (Gayle Rankin) while Team Green grouses about his movements. Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel) says, “If Daemon prevails in the Riverlands, I no longer have the numbers to challenge him.” There are quick glimpses of a nearly empty Green Council and Ser Criston on his horse looking at Alicent, before Aemond takes over the frame. “My uncle is a challenge I welcome,” he says, “if he dares face me.” We see Daemon scurrying out of Harrenhal to his dragon.

Then we see Aemond visiting his ailing brother Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), who is still not dead. “You have the arrogance of youth,” Alicent tells him, “but have the indignities of your childhood not sufficiently been avenged.” There’s a shot of Alicent attempting to mother Aemond. It’s unclear if it’s working.

Back on Dragonstone, Rhaenyra is approaching her dragon as she says to someone, “You must see in me a ruler and the symbols of authority. The shield and the sword.” Rhaenyra flies Syrax out of Dragonstone and then thrusts a sword in private. Jace says, “We will still never match the strength of the Green armies. We need Daemon.” As he says this, we see Lannister forces mustering for the other side. Rhaenyra looks upset by her son’s comments.

“I must now proceed as if I stand alone,” Rhaenyra says, walking the halls of Dragonstone. Her new Hand, Corlys (Steve Toussaint), surveys the map table. Then there’s a shot of Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell) looking on in shock or horror or confusion (?) at something. More Lannister soldiers on horseback. Rhaenyra says to someone, “It is my fault that you have forgotten to fear me.”

There’s then a quick montage of Daemon in the Throne Room, yelling in King’s Landing, a terrified Helaena (Phia Saban) and Alicent running through the city streets as gold cloaks hold off mobs, and a shot of Alicent shielding her daughter from an aforementioned mob.

We then see a nervous Jace look to an equally nervous Rhaenyra on Dragonstone. A dragon, seemingly Vermithor or Silverwing, approaches with a growl. Rhaenyra looks frightened and then… House of the Dragon Sundays 9 PM.
