Turner-Smith has been tapped to portray the role of Sami Zahir, a professor of social anthropology who has a history with covert CIA Agent Martian. This marks her latest major TV project after starring in The Last Ship, Nightflyers, and Anne Boleyn. Besides The Agency, Turner-Smith will next be seen in the Apple TV+ drama Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn and Michelle Monaghan.

Turner-Smith will officially be joined by previously announced cast members Michael Fassbender as Martian, Jeffrey Wright as Henry, and Richard Gere as Bosko. Production on the spy thriller has already started in London. The upcoming Paramount+ with Showtime series is based on the French drama La Bureau des Légendes, which ran on-air from 2015 to 2020.
The Agency is written and executive produced by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, with Joe Wright serving as director for the first two episodes. It is executive produced by Wright, George Clooney, Grant Heslov, Nina L. Diaz, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Ashley Stern, and Pascal Breton. It is a production by Showtime Studios and 101 Studios.
“The series follows Martian (Fassbender), a covert CIA agent, ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station,” reads the synopsis. “When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”
