Manchester City are among the clubs hoping to strike a quick deal for Spain star Dani Olmo, with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claiming the Premier League champions will look to seal a summer move for the RB Leipzig playmaker this week.

Euro 2024 star Olmo's future has been a hot topic in recent weeks, with his club having received interest from a range of top European sides this summer.

Arsenal, Man City, Barcelona and Liverpool have all been linked with the midfielder, but any club interested must first trigger his £50.5m release clause if they are to pull him away from the Bundesliga.

If the reports are to be believed, then that quartet of clubs may have fallen behind Man City in the chase now, with City understood to be the "most interested" suitor working on getting a deal done sooner rather than later.

Olmo had to bide his time before becoming a first-choice starter for La Roja at Euro 2024 following Pedri's knee injury. He was arguably the best performer for Spain in the knockout stages as the four-time European Champions returned to the summit of European football after 12 years, beating England 2-1 in the final in Berlin.

The 26-year-old finished the European Championship as the joint-top scorer alongside five other players with three goals. Olmo also provided two assists along the way.

Dani Olmo speaks out on looming release clause deadline amid Man City links

Speaking about his future, Olmo said to El Larguero, in quotes reported via the Mirror : "Clause until July 20? Yes, if clubs want me, they know what they can do. There's time until July 20 [when the clause expires] for the clause otherwise later it'd be tough negotiations! I'm under contract at Leipzig and I want to win titles.

"I'm not worried. I have my people who take care of everything. I have too much to do with the Euros to think about other things. Especially now with the final ahead. I don't have anything else on my mind."

"The people I trust already know my opinion and what I want to do. That's the only thing that matters. All I want is to win and keep winning. I said that when I renewed my contract. They wanted to make a winning project and that is why I renewed. I want to win titles."

    Guardiola keen on landing Olmo

Pep Guardiola has been the driving force behind Manchester City's pursuit of Olmo. The former Barcelona manager is thought to be keen to bring the 26-year-old Spaniard to the Etihad, viewing him as a potential long-term successor to Bernardo Silva, whose future remains uncertain.

The Premier League champions are believed to be intensifying their efforts to secure Olmo's signature and could aim to finalize the deal as soon as July 15.
