Natalie Portman says she'd return to Star Wars on one condition on The View

Natalie Portman wouldn't say "no" to a future Star Wars appearance.

The actress, who plays Padmé Amidala in the franchise's prequel films, reflected on her past role. During an appearance on The View , Sunny Hostin asked if she'd be open to returning to the movies and she replied: "Absolutely, especially, Moses Ingram, my brilliant co-star on [Lady in the Lake] is in Obi Wan, so if I got to work with her, I'd do anything with her."

Moses plays Reva Sevander in a 2022 prequel television show, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the subsequent films. While both Moses and Natalie were a part of prequel's for the story, their paths did not cross as they were on separate projects. After all, the Star Wars cinematic universe is vast and expansive. Natalie's first appearance was in The Phantom Menace.

When she first appeared in the universe, Moses was met with a slew of backlash. One View fan recalled on X, formerly known as Twitter: "I remember hearing Moses' name when she was being criticized by some Star Wars fanboy jerks."

The actress was open about the attacks that she was receiving, pointing out the pure racism they were riddled with. At the time, she confessed on social media: “There are hundreds of those. Hundreds [of hate messages]," adding, "“I also see those of you out there who put on a cape for me. And that really does mean the world to me.”

She further said: “There's nothing anybody can do about this. There's nothing anybody can do to stop this hate. I question what my purpose is even being here in front of you, saying that this is happening. … But I think the thing that bothers me, is this feeling that I've had inside of myself—which no one has told me—but this feeling that I've just got to shut up and take it. That I've just got to grin and bear it. And I'm not built like that.”

The franchise itself stood by Moses through the hate train. They posted on X: “We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist.”
