KS Governor Laura Kelly's disaster declaration request approved

KANSAS (KOAM) -- Governor Laura Kelly's request for a federal disaster declaration for the Public Assistance Program due to storm damage from April has been approved.

According to the state of Kansas, the declaration allows for state and local levels of government and nonprofit organizations that provide vital and essential services to apply for assistance.

"I am grateful that the request has been approved," Governor Laura Kelly said. "These funds will go a long way in supporting the restoration work by the impacted counties."

Counties named in the declaration:

• Allen
• Anderson
• Bourbon
• Chautauqua
• Cherokee
• Elk
• Greenwood
• Linn
• Morris
• Neosho
• Pottawatomie
• Wilson

The request was sent in by Governor Kelly on June 26.
