Shannen Doherty, star of Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed tragically died Saturday after facing breast cancer for several years. Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, went into remission two years later, and announced in February of 2020 that she had stage 4 cancer and that it was terminal. In 2023, Doherty shared a post on Instagram revealing that her cancer had spread to her brain.

Not only was Doherty a talented actress and a podcast host who spoke openly and honestly about cancer, she was also a huge animal rights advocate and championed finding homes for stray dogs. Now that she has sadly passed, one of her final wishes has been publicized and it's so heartbreaking.

People Magazine reports, "episode of her podcast in January 2024, Doherty shared that her final wishes for her remains involved Bowie .

"I want [my remains] to be mixed with my dog, and I want it to be mixed with my dad. I do not want to be buried and not cremated," she said at the time, adding that she was also interested in the idea of her ashes being used to "grow them into a tree."

People also reports that Doherty credited Bowie for detecting her cancer before doctors did. When she began speaking publicly about her cancer journey, Doherty told Entertainment Tonight in 2016 that she thought her dog sensed something was wrong with her before her 2015 diagnosis.

"She would obsessively sniff right here on my right side for a long time before," the Charmed star said at the time. "So, it made sense when I got diagnosed.”

Doherty made a post for Bowie on her Instagram account in March that read, "Happy birthday to the best dog in the world. I love you to an obsessive point."

As of now there is no information on who Bowie will go to live with after Doherty's sad passing.

Bowie has his own social media account.
