No matter how many toys our dogs may have, there’s always one they want to play with. When they know precisely where it’s located, they can be relentless in their pursuit. As parents know, the whining, crying, and barking will continue until they get what they seek.

It’s truly inspiring to see the bravery of this dog’s human sister, who fearlessly retrieved her ball from its precarious location. Watch the video from July 1 to witness this impressive recovery.

It’s always great when your best friend is brave and strong! Miss Jazzy’s (@ missjazzy.doodle ) mom, Krista, noticed her gorgeous Goldendoodle lying by the front door, which was unusual for her. Fortunately, her mom knew what it meant - Jazzy’s favorite ball was out of her reach. Way out of reach! How did it even get up there? Lucky for her, her human sister and father teamed up to help retrieve it. The little girl showed her cheerleading skills as she stood on her father’s extended hands to search the ledge above the doorway and eventually found the ball. Even though she couldn’t easily grab it, she didn’t give up.

She carefully climbed the trim, pulled herself onto the ledge, and got the ball down. Her skills are impressive, and Dad did a great job, too! Jazzy immediately went after it, not even sticking around to say thank you. Nonetheless, her best friend understood the significance of the ball, so hopefully, seeing how happy Jazzy was to have it back was thanks enough.

Why Do Dogs Get Attached to Certain Toys?

Experts agree that dogs form an attachment to toys that bring them comfort and joy. In the same way our favorite pillow or sweatshirt can make us feel relaxed, having their favorite toy close by can do the same for them. According to Dogster, “Retrievers have a deep-seated desire to retrieve, so they may become attached to toys that allow them to fulfill that instinct, such as their balls or a frisbee.” In comparison, hunting dogs may enjoy the sounds their toys make, which can be similar to prey.

Pet parents understood this situation. Viewer @rondalini responded, “The ball dilemma is definitely a real thing.” It sure is. Viewer @sullydoodleandsampson remarked, “Jazzy has her humans trained very well!” She does. Another person joked, “While she is up there, I would throw her a dust rag in my house.” That could’ve worked out well.

The next time one of our dogs loses their ball, we’ll have nothing to complain about if it’s not on a second-story ledge. Plucking it from behind a couch or a bureau has never looked so easy.
