UFC star Paddy Pimblett has admitted he rooted for Spain over England because it netted him a cool £3,000 ($3,900).

The Scouse sensation, a huge Liverpool fan, is gearing up for his next bout against King Green in Manchester a week on Saturday. He didn't bat an eyelid as England succumbed to a late defeat in Berlin.

Nico Williams broke the deadlock shortly after the break, with Cole Palmer drawing things level for Gareth Southgate's squad. However, as the match teetered on the brink of extra-time, Mikel Oyarzabal clinched the title for Spain, marking their fourth triumph.

Yet, Pimblett was far from crestfallen; instead, he was caught on camera jubilantly celebrating Spain's victory at a local pub. Amidst the subdued atmosphere, Pimblett can be heard exclaiming: "Yes, look at all your faces you... b-------. F------ get in..."

Despite being unbeaten in the UFC, Pimblett faced backlash until he took to Instagram to set the record straight. "So a lot of people are making a big deal about this video so I'm putting it up myself for you all to see," he posted.

"I had a bet with a few of my mates in the pub and if England would have won I would have had to pay out £3,000, also everyone jumped on me and 10 minutes earlier when England scored. How can you expect me not to return the favour a few minutes later. That's what it feels like winning £3,000 in the last minute of the match, anyone that says they wouldn't celebrate winning a bet like that, you are absolutely crazy."

Before Pimblett's post, one user voiced their disappointment saying, "That is horrendous viewing. Put aside not wanting England to win, there would've been plenty in the city who would've felt nothing either way last night But going the pub to watch a team you don't like playing and screaming at people trying to watch the match is absolutely garbage."

Another individual expressed perplexity stating, "If people don't want to support England, that's fine, I wouldn't care. But to actively want the country you live in, that you've chosen to bring your kids up in, to get beat is proper weird."

The confusion over identity was shared by another user who remarked, "I just find it odd, they come across as being very confused about their own identity. When he soon fights in the UFC, he'll have an English flag right next to his name."
