More ways to be a big help

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Big Brothers of Big Sisters of Northwest Florida fosters one-on-one mentoring throughout Bay, Walton, and Okaloosa counties.

The local non-profit needs more mentors but there are other ways to help if an individual is unable to make that commitment.

“For some people being a ‘Big’ is not for them and that’s understandable,” said Leanne Gaudet, Match Specialist in Bay county for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida. “We always talk about how some can help us through treasure, which would be funds.”

Some of that treasure includes the agency’s custom license plate you can purchase.

“We actually receive $25 for every license plate that is purchased along with the free advertising that goes along with it,” said Gaudet.

You can purchase the license plate at your local DMV office.

The organization also encourages community members to become part of their 1989 Leadership Society, which is for continuous donors.

“That just provides us with continuous donors even if it just a few dollars every month, that you continuously give to us, that provides support to the agency to help us make more matches for kids,” said Gaudet.

There are also other ways to volunteer with the organization other than mentoring.

The agency is always looking for volunteers to help with their fundraisers like planning the event to helping set up.
