FOLLOWING hacker attacks on studios like Rockstar Games and Insomniac, it seems entertainment giant Disney could be the next victim of a breach.
A group of hackers that goes by the name NullBulge, says it has obtained more than 1TB of confidential information from Disney.
The leak, which is yet to be verified, allegedly contains messages and files obtained from the company’s Slack.
The self-proclaimed hacktivist group claims to have attacked Disney’s systems to “protect artists’ rights and ensure fair compensation for their work”.
The group says the leak contains “almost 10,000 channels, every message and file possible, unreleased projects, raw images, code, logins, links to internal API/web pages, and more!”
The dumped files also allegedly include personal information and login details of Disney employees.
It is also said to contain details about the company’s unannounced gaming projects.
Disney is yet to comment on the alleged attack, making the hackers’ claims less credible, as an actual breach would have prompted a statement from the company.
A recent leak of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s release window is thought to be based on the alleged data breach.
Details of the upcoming Disney collaborations with Fortnite are also to be expected soon according to reliable leakers like HypeX, citing the alleged hacker attack.
Disney had previously announced that it's working with Epic Games on an “open games and entertainment universe connected to Fortnite”.
The project involved a $1.5 billion investment by Disney into Epic announced in February 2024.
If confirmed, the attack would be one of the biggest recent leaks, following the hacking of Rockstar Games, when early GTA 6 footage was leaked in 2022.
Last year, one of PlayStation’s biggest studios, Insomniac Games was also the target of a ransomware attack that revealed details on upcoming games.
