Manchester United's transfer business has begun, after Joshua Zirkzee was confirmed as their first summer signing by arriving from Bologna in a deal worth more than £36million.

Zirkzee joins on a five-year deal but will first enjoy a break following an extended period with his national side as Netherlands reached the semifinal of Euro 2024.

United's ambitions in the market won't end there, however. The club still hold hopes of strengthening their backline and midfield, while another forward has also been touted.

However, Man Utd's next move is an exit from the club, with Willy Kambwala completing a move to Villarreal.

The 19-year-old Frenchman completed his medical for the Yellow Submarine on Sunday, with the the defender signing a five-year deal with the LaLiga side.

Kambwala played 10 times for United's first-team, including eight times in the Premier League. The two clubs have agreed an £8.6m deal.

United are said to hold both buy-back and sell-on clauses for the Congo-born talent. Kambwala was in the final 12 months of his United deal, and had rejected his most recent contract offer from the club.

Is letting Kambwala leave the right decision from United?

Many will be taken aback by Kambwala’s departure, but from a business perspective, this move is entirely logical.

At 19, Kambwala is a promising talent but still needs to hone his skills at the highest level.

With only a year remaining on his contract and having already turned down a new offer from United, his exit seemed inevitable.

The new management at Old Trafford has demonstrated their savvy by reportedly incorporating a buy-back clause and sell-on clauses into the deal.

If Kambwala makes waves in LaLiga, United can bring him back by triggering the buy-back option.
