Temperatures will once again be in the 90s this week in the Lehigh Valley, which has prompted an excessive heat warning from the National Weather Service.

The weather service recommends residents stay in air-conditioned rooms and limit strenuous, outdoor activities. Forecasters also urged residents to wear lightweight or loose-fitting clothes if they need to go outside.

Like last week, some areas will be open for people to stay cool.

Allentown is offering the following resources this week:

City pools will be open from Tuesday and Wednesday for residents and season pass holders, as capacity allows, for free, according to a city spokesperson. Guests will need to verify their address.

    The following pools are open:

    • Cedar Beach Pool, 101 N. Ott St.
    • Irving Pool, 731 N. Irving St.
    • Mack Pool, 1901 Mack Blvd.

Air-conditioned buildings will also be available for residents. The following locations are available:

    • Cumberland Gardens Community Room, 501 E. Cumberland St., from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    • Executive Education Charter School, 555 Union Blvd., from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Lehigh Valley Active Life, 1633 Elm St., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Spray parks will be open in the city from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. The following parks are open:

    • Bucky Boyle Park, 10 Pump Place
    • Old Fairgrounds, 5th St. Between Gordon Street and Liberty Street
    • Valania Park, 531 Union St.

Allentown Fire Department will also be doing water curtains at the following parks from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday:

    • Roosevelt Park, 271 Camp St.
    • Jordan Park, 1001 N. 6th St.
    • Union Terrace Soccer Fields across from Union Terrace Elementary

In nearby Bucks County, county officials have issued an excessive heat warning, which has prompted multiple cooling centers to open throughout the county. The following Upper Bucks County locations are open:

    • Quakertown Masonic Lodge, 501 W. Broad St., Quakertown, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Riegelsville Borough Hall, 615 Easton Road, Riegelsville, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
