Timothée Chalamet In Final Talks To Produce, Star In Josh Safdie’s A24 Pic ‘Marty Supreme’

Timothée Chalamet ( Dune franchise) is in final negotiations to produce and star in Marty Supreme , Josh Safdie’s new film for A24, Deadline has confirmed.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, the film reportedly is loosely inspired by pro ping pong player Marty Reisman. Ronald Bronstein and Safdie penned the script, with the pair to produce alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas and A24. Previously seeing A24 produce his and brother Benny Safdie’s films Uncut Gems and Good Time , Josh’s most recent solo directorial effort prior to Marty Supreme was 2008’s The Pleasure of Being Robbed . He comes to the project on his own following the revelation not too long ago that he and his brother have split off to pursue solo directing careers, while continuing to produce together through their Elara Pictures.

A legendary American table tennis player known for his flamboyant style and exceptional skill, Reisman started playing at a young age and quickly rose to become one of the most iconic figures in the sport, winning multiple national and international titles. Known for his unique and unorthodox playing style, which included a strong emphasis on spin and a distinctive forehand and backhand technique, he was a master of deception and could manipulate the ball in ways that confused his opponents.

In addition to his playing career, Reisman was also a promoter and ambassador for the sport. His contributions to table tennis extended beyond his competitive achievements, as he played a significant role in popularizing table tennis in the United States.

Most recently reprising in Denis Villeneuve’s hit sequel Dune: Part Two , Chalamet prior to that scored at the box office with last winter’s musical hit Wonka . Most recently, the actor wrapped opposite Elle Fanning on James Mangold’s Bob Dylan pic A Complete Unknown .
