tnAchieves is proud to announce that following the July 1, 2024 TN Promise community service deadline, students in the program have given back more than 5 million hours of service.

Randy Boyd, tnAchieves Board Chairman, shared that, “community service has always been a pillar of tnAchieves and represents the belief that students engaging with their community opens doors to high-quality credentials and meaningful careers. Crossing this exciting milestone further emphasizes that Tennessee is the Volunteer State!”

tnAchieves has long held firm to the belief that community involvement matters and asks that all students give back at least eight hours of community service each semester. Students routinely give back to local schools, animal shelters, food pantries and more. These hours represent a commitment on the part of each student to not only their personal growth and success but that of their community as well.

“I enjoyed giving back as part of tnAchieves,” said Kevin, a tnAchieves student at Pellissippi State Community College. “I believe that serving our community helps us recognize the opportunity that this program provides for us. It’s not only a civic duty, but a privilege to give back!”

Impressively, 96 percent of students report that they enjoyed their volunteer experience. Furthermore, more than 1.1 million hours have been completed through job shadowing opportunities. These opportunities provide students with a valuable opportunity to gain real-world perspectives that may lead to a meaningful career in their community. Communities benefit when students get involved, and tnAchieves is proud to participate in this effort.

tnAchieves is grateful for the countless organizations and institutions across the state that work to meet community needs every single day while providing students the opportunity to help meet these needs. tnAchieves is thrilled to play a part in the excellent community-focused work happening across the Volunteer State.
