Several communities were given evacuation orders Monday as the Black Fire continued to burn South of Roosevelt Lake on the edge of the Superstition Wilderness, according to fire officials.

Multiple locations near the Black Fire were put on "go" status, according to the Arizona Central West Zone Type Three Incident Management Team.

Orders are in place for Tonto National Monument, Black Brush Ranch, Cross-P Ranch, Reevis Mountain School, Cottonwood Cove Picnic Area, Frazier, Windy Hill, Schoolhouse and Grapevine Campgrounds.

There are "set" orders, which advise residents to be ready to go, in place for Quail Run, Roosevelt Post Office, Lakeview Mobile Home Park and Roosevelt Lake Marina and RV Park. There are boat ramps at Cholla and Windy Hill that are currently open. The Tonto Basin Ranger Station and the Tonto National Monument are closed.

The fire started July 11, was caused by lightning and has burned approximately 5,982 acres with 0% containment.

The public is encouraged to avoid the evacuation areas and to sign up for the Gila and Maricopa County Emergency Notification System. To receive emergency notifications from Gila County go to http://readygila.com/alertswarnings.
