Nearly six years after Khabib Nurmagomedov submitted Conor McGregor , the UFC has released a video giving fans a more detailed look at what happened in their heavily hyped main event .
As part of the YouTube series Muted, which showcases past bouts without commentary and with in-cage and corner audio enhanced, Khabib Nurmagomedov can be heard taunting his rival during the dominating victory while McGregor’s team is unable to provide a solution.
Some of the highlights include Khabib Nurmagomedov’s chief cornerman and coach Javier Mendez discouraging the wrestler from engaging in any stand up with McGregor only to drop him with a punch shortly afterwards in the second round.
Current UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev is shown telling Nurmagomedov that McGregor is “dying there on his stool” between rounds. Moments later, “The Eagle” calls McGregor a “f*cking b*tch” in Russian according to the on screen translation.
The fight footage concludes with McGregor tapping to the fourth-round rear naked choke and Nurmagomedov responds by spitting on the back of his head. He screams “I f*cked you up b*tch,” as referee Herb Dean pushes him away.

The biggest omission to the new perspective on UFC 229’s main event was the unsanctioned fight against McGregor cornerman and former Bellator fighter Dillon Danis. Nurmagomedov’s dive off of the Octagon into Danis sparked a brawl between both teams as UFC staff, Nevada Athletic Commission personnel, and security scrambled to contain the scene.
The fight was the culmination of an ugly rivalry that spanned for four years and turned ugly several months before their 2018 fight.
Days before Nurmagomedov won the lightweight title that the “Notorious” had not defended for two years, his team confronted McGregor’s then training partner Artem Lobov, which prompted the Irish star to attack the bus transporting the UFC 223 fighters from Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center to their hotel.
The infamous incident, which led to McGregor and his associates being criminally charged, injured several unrelated fighters and forced several late minute changes to the event.
The pair would verbally clash at an infamous press conference promoting would end up becoming the UFC’s most successful pay-per-view event to date. McGregor insulted Nurmagomedov’s Islamic faith, mocked his native Dagestan and referred to his manager Ali Abdelaziz as a terrorist.
