According to a news release, Kentucky has finished in the top five over the last five years but fell behind Florida in 2023 for the top spot. In 2024, KSP “wants to return the gators to the swamp.”

On Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear encouraged Kentuckians to join him in voting.

“Our state police are the best in the nation and one way we can show our support for them is by casting our vote in the best-looking cruiser contest,” Gov. Beshear said. “KSP won the contest in 2021 and 2022, and it’s time to take back the title. I will be casting my vote and encourage Kentuckians to join me.”

KSP’s entry depicts a 2024 Ford Mustang GT in front of the Secretariat statue in the roundabout at Alexandria Drive and Old Frankfort Pike in Lexington. The image pays homage to the Commonwealth’s horse culture, the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s triple-crown win, and the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby.

According to KSP, troopers need the help of 4.5 million Kentuckians. Voting begins on Monday and ends on July 29. Kentuckians can vote once per device per day.

KSP said that it will post the most recent standings on social media.
