DENVER (KDVR) – At the Republican National Convention Monday, Colorado’s delegation cast all of its 37 votes for former President Donald Trump.

While the decision wasn’t surprising, Trump and Nikki Haley were the only candidates to get delegates from the state. Haley has since dropped out and released her delegates, part of formalizing the former president as the party’s presidential candidate.

Trump announces JD Vance as running mate

The announcement, which along with most other states included some bragging, was made by Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dave Williams.

“Madame Secretary, on behalf of the Colorado Republican Party and the Great State of Colorado, the Centennial State, home of the U.S. Air Force Academy and Space Command along with the best Rocky Mountain peaks and powder skiing in the world, I have the honor of announcing that our delegation, with unity and purpose, while responding to our president’s call to ‘fight, fight, fight,’ unanimously votes for the 45th and soon to be 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump,” Williams said.

While still the party chairman, Williams lost the primary for his house district in June and has faced calls to be removed by many Republicans within the state after sending anti-LGBTQ messages in June, which is celebrated as Pride Month.

Specifically, letters that Williams sent were titled “God Hates Pride” on June 3 and “No to Pride, Yes to Jesus” on June 10.

“The Denver Republican Party Executive Committee is shocked and saddened at the attempt of Chairman Williams to suppress freedom of speech and dox those who do not agree with him,” a statement from the organization said in June.

The Denver Republican Party also claimed that Williams violated Republican bylaws by endorsing candidates in contested primaries.

Just before the roll call at the Republican National Convention, Ohio U.S. Sen. JD Vance was announced as Trump’s vice-presidential running mate .
