TAZEWELL, VA (WVNS) — Due to the recent dry weather conditions in the area, a burn ban will be in effect for Tazewell County, Virginia.

The burn ban will be in place until Thursday, July 25, 2024, however the date could be reassessed by the Board.

All outdoor burning activities, aside from cooking with charcoal grills or contained gas, are included in the ban, and violating the burn ban is a class-one misdemeanor.

The burn ban was put in place by Eric Young, the Tazewell County Administrator and Emergency Management Director, to deal with the higher risk of wildfires and increase safety measures due to the dry weather conditions in parts of Virginia.
