Twisters star Stephen Oyoung has joined the cast of Mission: Impossible 8.

The eighth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise — formerly titled Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two — will see Tom Cruise once again reprise his role as Ethan Hunt. The film is currently expected to be released in May 2025.

Per Deadline, Oyoung has been tapped to play an undisclosed character in the forthcoming Mission: Impossible movie.

Oyoung is starring alongside Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos in Lee Isaac Chung’s Twisters, which releases in United States theaters on July 19. He also voices Martin Li/Mister Negative in the 2018 Spider-Man video game and the 2023 sequel, Spider-Man 2.

What else do we know about Mission: Impossible 8?

Plot details for the eighth Mission: Impossible movie remain under wraps at this time, though it will likely build off the events and cliffhanger ending featured in 2023’s Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.

Christopher McQuarrie returns as director and co-write for Mission: Impossible 8. Along with Dead Reckoning Part One, McQuarrie also helmed the fifth and sixth films in the franchise, 2015’s Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation and 2018’s Mission: Impossible — Fallout.

In addition to Cruise, the next Mission: Impossible stars Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis, Hayley Atwell as Grace, Esai Morales as Gabriel, Pom Klementieff as Paris, Shea Whigham as Jasper Briggs, Greg Tarzan Davis as Degas, Mariela Garriga as Marie, Rolf Saxon as William Donloe, Holt McCallany as Bernstein, Nick Offerman as Sydney, and Frederick Schmidt as Zola Mitsopolis.

Additionally, Janet McTeer, Hannah Waddingham, Lucy Tulugarjuk, Katy O’Brian, and Tramell Tillman are playing undisclosed roles in the film.

While production was delayed because of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA Strike, Mission: Impossible 8 is scheduled to hit United States theaters on May 23, 2025.
