Golden Retrievers' Epic 'Tennis Ball Rainstorm' Is One for the Record Books

Golden Retrievers may be a purebred dog, but that doesn't negate the fact that they're actually about 25% tennis ball. If there's one thing a Golden Retriever will always be down to do, it's playing fetch.

As a special surprise on Saturday, July 13th, one Golden Retriever dad decided it was a good idea to surprise his 5 Golden besties with 300 tennis balls dumped from the balcony. He loves them, and as we can see very clearly, they love tennis balls (and him, probably):

Interestingly, @lifewithgoldens7 is actually the second person with 5 Golden Retrievers to go viral on TikTok. I wonder if they know each other!

We don't know too much about this family, other than that the Goldens' names are Sammie, Summer, Teya, and one whose name is literally nowhere to be found. They also have other dogs and a rescue chicken named Stormi!

One of the "Golden Retrievers" in this video is a stuffed animal, which some commenters (and I) did not even notice at first. It looked like he was just one of them, albeit a little less excited! 300 tennis balls with 4 living dogs to share them boils down to roughly 75 tennis balls per dog, though it would be 50/each if they also split with their non-Golden siblings. Good luck getting them to share though - Golden Retrievers are famously soft-jawed, they can and will lock on for dear life if they need to!

    Shelters Always Love Donations

300 tennis balls is too many, and everyone knows that. Even with 6 dogs, they likely wouldn't even be able to get through half of those in an entire year - it's almost one tennis ball per day! Luckily, after big stunts like this, most of the balls are left untouched. They can be gathered right back up and taken to a shelter!

Most shelters will accept used toys as long as they're clean and in good condition. This is best for harder plastic toys that can be easily disinfected once they're donated, but tennis balls are also a huge one: fetch is a great way to get exercise, tennis balls are easy to clean, and cheap to replace. Plus they're easy to hold for older dogs or dogs with jaw issues!

Old blankets and pillows, dog beds, towels, and even storage containers are always welcome, too. Always call ahead and ask your local shelter what they really need before you make a donation!
