BAZETTA TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Officers from multiple police departments were called to the Trumbull County Fair over the weekend to deal with a large fight and later an unruly crowd.

Deputies and officers working at the fair received a call from the 911 center around 10:14 p.m. Saturday about a large fight involving over 40 people in the midway. While deputies were responding to that fight, a second large fight was also reported near the slides on the southeast side of the fair.

According to a report from the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, while deputies were trying to investigate, they were flagged down by fairgoers with complaints of more fights and reports of people with guns.

“Within a ten-minute period of time we attempted to deal with several complaints, individuals running, and large crowds accumulating physically fighting,” the report read.

Deputies escorted people out through one of the gates but said a crowd surrounded deputies and started to push back and run back into the fair. Some of those people started to make threats while getting into a fighting stance, the report stated. Neighboring police departments were then called to the scene.

The report stated that it took two hours after the fight call to get everyone to leave the fair, but the report noted that some children stayed in the parking lot with no ride or attempt to leave.

The report did not indicate that any weapons were found, and no charges appeared to be filed at the time the report was taken.
