Woman dead after crash in Adams County

STRONGS PRAIRIE, Wis -- A Strongs Prairie woman is dead following a crash in Strongs Prairie.

Adams County Sheriff Brent York said the crash occurred at the intersection of State Highway 21 and County Highway Z.

York said a Ford F150 was traveling southbound on County Highway Z and failed to stop at the stop sign on Highway 21. The Ford F150 struck a Volkswagen Jetta that was traveling east on Highway 21.

The driver of the Jetta was pulled from the vehicle and transported to Gundersen Moundview Hospital where they were later released. One of the occupants of the F150 was transported by Life Link III helicopter to Marshfield Medical Center where they remain in critical condition.

The other occupant Sharon M. Peterson, 38, was pulled from the vehicle but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

York said both occupants of the F150 were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.

Deputies are investigating who the driver of the F150 was.

The crash remains under investigation.
