It’s hard to imagine a connection between Disney Junior’s hit show, Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends , and Dancing with the Stars , but that’s now the case. DWTS pro dancers Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson have put together a super cute, fun dance video to promote the new Marvel Spidey and His Amazing Friends Dance ‘N Crawl Spidey Interactive Plush Toy from Hasbro and Parade has your exclusive first look.

Val & Jenna "Do The Spidey" (1:06)

As parents of a young son, Rome , the dancing duo are naturally interested in preschool children’s toys, but the partnership is even more perfect when you take into consideration the fact that Spidey comes with a song and a dance “Do the Spidey ," and it gave Val and Jenna the opportunity to put their special twist on it.

"Of course we have the Disney connection through DWTS , but this was actually something totally separate!," Jenna told Parade. "We loved the idea of doing something fun and catchy that will get kids out of their chairs and active. I know it’s also important to Marvel to spread that message, and Spidey is absolutely the most fun way to get kids dancing and moving. Rome absolutely loves all things Disney Jr., so it was really fun to bring him in and all do something together."

And Val added, "I’m super passionate about spreading my love of dance and movement to the younger generations, too, and thought this was a really creative way to do it."

There was already official “Do the Spidey” choreography, but how did you make it yours? What did you add and how did you make it “Spidey” enough?

Val: We added some ballroom flare to the choreography to fit our style and added a fun partner section to represent what we do every day for work.

When you work together, what’s the process? How do you figure out who does the choreography? Do you argue over it? How competitive does it get?

Jenna: Ha, we definitely get competitive. It’s our job! But we actually do work really well together. It’s fun to have someone to bounce choreography ideas off of and we’re so familiar with how each other thinks that it actually works really well. We just layer and build on one another’s ideas until we get something we’re super proud of. In the ballroom on the show, however, different story! We are 100 percent competitive but have a rule to make sure we leave that all at the studio every night after work and totally separate.

What kinds of activities does Rome enjoy now that he’s a toddler?

Val: Rome is really into music and movement. It was pretty fun to see him dancing and moving alongside Spidey while we were filming this, anything musical he is all about. He also likes hanging out with “papa and mama” and really loves playing with his cars and trucks.

    Will Rome start dancing soon?

Jenna: He’s already dancing! He is forever moving to the beat of the music, but we’ll probably enroll him in a fun class next year or something, he’s still so young! It’s in his genes, though.

Val, where do you keep the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy? This is your third win, but now that it’s named after Len, is it more special? Are you and your celeb partner and co-winner Xochitl Gomez still in touch?

Val: Yeah, it was really special winning this season not only because it’s been seven years and so many changes in my life since my last DWTS trophy, but especially because of the passing of Len and what an honor it is to be the recipient of the very first Len Goodman trophy. I really appreciate it.

Xochitl and I do keep in touch, yes! I love watching her grow personally and professionally, it was a special season.

Jenna, you danced in the In Memoriam segment at the Academy Awards. Is that more nerve-wracking than a performance on DWTS?

Jenna: It was truly a bucket list opportunity for me, dancing at the Academy Awards. Mandy [ Moore ] choreographed such an incredible piece and I felt immediately comfortable knowing she was leading the charge. Of course, always nerves, but I had so much fun!

It looks like SAVOR After Hours is the next project. How would you describe it? What about it attracted you to the project?

Val: SAVOR is a really special show that is fun, high-energy, and super intimate. The audience feels very much a part of the show. Its storytelling through movement and music. The evening is full of world-renowned dancing but also lots of humor, heart, and a soundtrack that will have you up on your feet and loving life. It’s the best version of me that’s been on stage in a while. If you’re in the Chicago area make it a gift for yourself and see SAVOR. You won’t regret it.
