    New wildfire sparks in northern Utah, dubbed Tangent Fire

    BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Another wildfire sparked in northern Utah on Monday afternoon and has since been dubbed the Tangent Fire.

    Utah Fire Info said smoke was reported Monday afternoon rising from the Hogup Mountains, located in central Box Elder County.

    Officials provided an update later Monday night, saying the fire had grown from 20 acres to 300 acres. The cause of the fire was unknown as of Monday night.

    Utah Fire Info said the Tangent Fire was “burning actively in remote, rugged terrain with 0% containment.”

    Officials did not immediately disclose more information about the resources assigned to fight the blaze.

    According to the Utah Wildfire Dashboard , the fire was called Tangent, but Utah Fire Info used the hashtag “#TangentPeak” on social media.
