    3 killed in head-on collision in Grand County, including newborn baby girl

    GRAND COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — Three people were killed and four were hospitalized after a suburban crashed into a motorhome head-on in Grand County Sunday afternoon, according to the Unified Police Department.

    UPD authorities say the suburban was traveling south on U.S. Route 191 near milepost 151 when it veered into the oncoming lane “at a high rate of speed.” The suburban crashed head-on into a motorhome hauling a pickup truck.

    Officials say the driver of the suburban, identified as Derik Hurst, 31, and two passengers, Shandi R. Hurst, 28, and a 1-month-old female, died in the crash. They were from Mancos, Colorado.

    Two other passengers in the suburban and two people from the motorhome were injured and transported to the hospital. Police did not disclose the extent of their injuries or their current conditions.

    Troopers are currently investigating the cause of the crash. There is no further information available at this time.
