Anyone who has ever put their blood, sweat, and tears into a home garden knows just how frustrating it can be to see all of that hard work be for nothing when animals or pests get ahold of your flowers, fruits, and veggies before you ever have a chance to.

Part of the problem with most pest control methods is that you can't actually use them and have a successful garden, since you need the bugs (yes, even the unfriendly kind) to access your plants to help them pollinate so that they'll produce the blooms and foods you're working so hard to grow.

That's why this home gardener's surprising trick is worth talking about. Not only does it allow the pollinators to reach the plants to help kick off the growing process, but it also allows you to keep them away once your stuff starts to thrive!

Gardening is hard 😂 but man you guys know all the tips and tricks. The garden community has taught me to grow food for my family and thats pretty awesome coming from someone who doesnt like to get dirty #gardentok #growyourownfood #gardeningforbeginners #gardentips #sunflower

We're a little obsessed with @today_i_really_like_me's idea of slipping a small mesh bag over the stuff in the garden we want to protect. Not only are these bags soft and forgiving, allowing our stuff to still have access to fresh air, sunshine, and room to grow but they are also really inexpensive, too.

    Talk about a win-win!

The commenters had a lot to say about this idea in the comments, with some of them seeming to be resistant to the idea of keeping the garden goodies all to themselves. That's an idea we're familiar with, since we've often heard that your garden should give back to the creatures who help it grow by pollinating it for you.

That being said, we've also lost whole crops to pests, causing a lot of heartache and frustration, so we think we'll give this idea a try.

Control Garden Pests the Natural Way

Another thing to consider about using pest control in the garden involves the chemicals you end up exposing yourself and your food to. That's why this woman's all-natural approach is a great one, and it can even help you curb really nasty critters like aphids.

That's right, this gardener bought a container of lady bugs to introduce to her garden and help keep her plants in check without using any chemicals. Not only was her plan successful, but she didn't have to do much else other than open the container and release the winged bugs into the yard!

Pest Proof Baggies Can Save Your Garden

We're a little excited about the prospect of never losing another plant to a hungry bug again (we're looking at you, squash bugs) so we're going to give this method a try.

If it works we'll have nothing to lose and if it doesn't then we'll just be about a few bucks!
