Cane Corsos are some of the most underrated dogs, in my opinion. They're gorgeous animals, they're dedicated to their families, and they're incredibly adaptable. Whether you need them to guard your home or you'd rather they just snuggle on the sofa most of the time, a Cane Corso is willing.

On Thursday, July 11th, one Cane Corso showed off her duality in a funny video. She was ready to be all bark and all bite, but when her sweet "nanny" walks through the door instead of an intruder, she changed her tune real quick:

Skye and Marisha have a lot of fun together, but they obviously have the most fun together when nanny is around. Visits with her are the best!

This video got over 2 million views, and for good reason. Cane Corsos tend to get a little bit of a bad rap; people think they're mean, vicious guard dogs who will attack everyone with or without reason. They're also prone to getting confused with Pit Bulls and Staffordshire Terriers, which also get slandered pretty frequently.

But Skye would never hurt a fly, and her TikToks have basically proven that. She's just a sweet girl, and even though she acts scarier than she is, she doesn't want to hurt anybody. That's the truth with all dogs; they don't want to hurt people. If they're prone to doing so, there's a reason for that. So, Skye puts her mean pants on and is ready to scare off any bigk, scary intruders who try to come in. But it's just her grandma, and hurting grandma means she'll sneak Skye fewer extra treats!

Why Are Cane Corsos Considered Mean?

Cane Corsos (Kah-NAY, by the way) are from Italy, and they're said to be a mastiff-type breed that are descended from dogs used in ancient wars. That right there is already pretty intimidating; what dogs go to war? Scary ones!

They were meant to be bodyguards, which is still sometimes true, though nowadays, we usually just use humans for that. Their ancestors would accompany their humans into battle, and Cane Corsos have been commonly used on large compounds or even farms to keep them safe. They don't make very good livestock guardians , though.

Before the days when cropping and docking were considered a taboo practice by many, Cane Corsos typically had their ears cropped and tails docked . It gave them the same threatening appearance as Pit Bulls and Staffordshire Terriers, who are notorious fighting dogs. Many people assume that Cane Corsos are aggressive in nature, and they absolutely will go after anyone who goes after the people they love, but a properly trained Cane Corso will never attack unprovoked. Skye definitely wouldn't; she's the best girl!
