Marcus Shoberg, a 31-year-old Army Ranger Veteran from Cloquet, Minnesota, is one of 25 contestants on The Bachelorette Season 21 led by Jenn Tran . Marcus was also the first contestant shown exiting his limo on night one.

“I wanted to tell you about my three big dreams. Growing up, I wanted to serve my country and go to outer space and to find my person,” Marcus told Jenn during their first meeting. “I’ve been lucky enough that some of those dreams have already become true.” He continued, “I’m super excited to be here and to be a part of your journey.”

During his intro package, Marcus also explained how his experience with the United States Army influenced his outlook on life and love. “When you can genuinely appreciate that you woke up in the morning and that you have breath in your lungs, that’s a beautiful thing,” he said. “I would never have been able to appreciate those types of things without that type of experience.” There’s no doubt that Marcus is a capital G Gentleman. Marcus received two one-on-one dates throughout The Bachelorette Season 21. His first was in Week 2 when he and Jenn went skydiving to Point Ormond Hill in Melbourne, Australia. His second was in Week 6 when he and Jenn went on a Wicked -themed date following yellow brick road to pick their own adventure in Seattle, Washington.

If he was to become the Season 29 Bachelor, Marcus, who is reportedly of African, Korean, Filipino, and Spanish descent, would be the first Asian-American Bachelor in Bachelor Nation history.
