    Indiana Barn Foundation gets selected for $100,000 grant

    INDIANA (WTWO/WAWV)— Indiana Landmarks has decided to give their Local Leadership Challenge Grant to the Indiana Barn Foundation for staffing assistance.

    Indiana Landmarks has been giving this grant out since the late 1990s to help give funding to organizations focused on preservation work. With this money the non-profit will be hiring its first full-time executive director. As part of the agreement Indiana Barn Foundation is tasked with an additional $80,000 over the next two years. With this Indiana Landmarks will also be assisting the board of Indiana Barn Foundation promote, hire, and implement a qualified candidates ideas for the organization.

    Indiana Barn Foundation was founded in 2013 to support the preservation efforts of these rural structures across the state. They aim to raise awareness of threats to barn degradation and help raise funds to keep them in good shape. Indiana Barn Foundation is a all-volunteer group and also offers programs and workshops to educate people on barn heritage and preservation. They also conduct assessments around the state and sets up an annual tour to highlight the state agricultural heritage.

    “Indiana Landmarks’ selection committee was impressed by Indiana Barn Foundation’s statewide efforts to engage rural residents and the hands-on participation of its board members,” says Marsh Davis, president of Indiana Landmarks. “The group presented a clear plan for a new full-time director who can lead the organization in expanding its important mission.”
