However, a recent online rumor has been floating around, claiming Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani has been cast in the titular role. Nanjiani’s name is the latest to be thrown in the mix by fans who have also thrown around names like Chris Pratt and Antony Starr as actors who could play the character.

As for the story, James Gunn described it in his January 2023 DC slate as a tale of a “superhero’s imposter syndrome.” The story will revolve around Michael Jon Carter, a “loser” from the future who travels to the present day to become a superhero and be loved by people.
