CORE, W.Va. (WBOY) — A member of the Busy Bees 4-H Club of Monongalia County added a contribution to the Mason Dixon Historical Park Monday evening.

4-H members placed a “fairy door house” and canoe alongside the other houses that adorn the Fairy Door Trail in the park. Officials said the trail gained popularity during the pandemic.

4-H officials also said that one of the club’s members applied for and was awarded a grant through the West Virginia 4-H All-Stars to help supply the latest house.

“I am super-duper excited to have been able to have been able to have made a contribution to this spot. It’s a very important place for our community, especially here recently they have been able to provide a great creative outlet for them, especially the younger members of our community which has been super awesome, especially in the wake of COVID-19,” a member of the Busy Bees 4-H Club, Daphne Tennant said.

Leaders of the Busy Bees 4-H Club said they emphasize the importance of being able to give back to the community. Along with the 4-H club, officials with the park said that community members and local artists are crafting fairy door houses that will last against the outdoor elements.
