As the 2024 MLB All-Star Game draws closer, so does the on-field debut of this year's jerseys. The American League uniform for this round of competition between the league's best has already drawn criticism, but there hasn't been much discourse since the official gear was revealed by the league.

Of course, this is a league that is no stranger to uniform controversy, and the All-Star Game is as good of a time as any for fans to share their opinions. MLB and Nike have teamed up again to produce this year's jerseys, which are meant to represent Texas, the host state, for the event.

This is the second time the All-Star Game has been hosted in Arlington, with the first coming in 1995. Read more about the jerseys' look for the 2024 contest below.

MLB confirmed that this year's All-Star jerseys are meant to be a nod to the Lone Star state. The typography and graphics are meant to "exude the classic vibes" of Texas with a "contemporary aesthetic."

The sandy base of the American League jersey was leaked early and drew some negative reviews from fans, but the same can't be said for the National League uniform with the blue colorway.

Each jersey will feature the player's individual team logo on the left sleeve with the All-Star logo on the right sleeve. The hats feature a single star that bridges the gap between the All-Star honor and the Lone Star nickname.

Why MLB players don't wear their team uniforms for the All-Star Game

This will be the fourth year in a row the All-Star Game will feature universal jerseys in place of players wearing their regular season uniforms. While there are rumors that the old tradition could return in 2025 , for now, Nike is sticking with the current model.

Maximum exposure for the jerseys is what the brand ultimately wants, and that comes with selling as many jerseys as possible. Commissioner Rob Manfred has said that he prefers the generic Nike look to the players wearing their team uniforms.
