EVESHAM — A kitchen fire has closed a restaurant and a neighboring ice cream shop here.

The July 14 blaze damaged Montesini Pizzeria and Pasta and its neighbor, Swirl'in Ice Cream and Cereal Bar, at a strip center on the 200 block of East Greentree Road.

Both are closed until further notice, according to Facebook posts.

Evesham firefighters responded to the blaze at 5:25 a.m. and found smoke coming through the roof, according to Scott Freedman, the township's fire marshal.

Firefighters faced heat and thick black smoke inside the restaurant, but an "aggressive interior attack" limited fire damage to the pizzeria, he said.

Other stores in the shopping center sustained smoke damage.

    No injuries were reported.

    The fire remains under investigation.

Montesini's Facebook post directed its customers to the company's restaurant in Maple Shade.

Swirl'in, which opened its Marlton shop in March, also has a store on Staten Island.
