Jossemar Marcos knows his role with the Madison soccer team.

Marcos, a junior with the Mustangs, hasn’t seen a ton of change throughout his high school career. What little change he has seen, though, looks seamless.

This season, Marcos was asked to move around the front line more for the Mustangs to change up their look. It ended up with the Mustangs making their fifth straight TSSAA state tournament, coming to an end in the semifinals against Gatlinburg-Pittman .

Marcos was named The Jackson Sun’s All-West Tennessee Boys Soccer Player of the Year following an incredible season with 31 goals and 12 assists. The 31-goal tally ranks in the top five of the state for goals and the 12 assists ranks in the top 25.

The Mustangs finished 17-4-1 on the season and got some heroics from Marcos at the end of their Class 1A state quarterfinal match against Westview when he punted a ball over the Westview goalkeeper and into the net in the final minutes.

Marcos was also responsible for the Mustangs’ lone goal in the semifinal loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman when he converted a penalty kick to put the Mustangs on the board late in the game.

Here are The Jackson Sun’s 2024 All-West Tennessee soccer teams.
