To be clear from the get-go, neither set up looks nearly as volatile as last week’s tornado and severe weather event, but there will still likely be some scattered intense storms to contend with.

Severe thunderstorms and isolated tornadoes are possible in portions of the Mid Atlantic on Wednesday, with the greatest threat of tornadic cells over parts of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. Severe Thunderstorm or Tornado Watches or Warnings may be needed for these regions as thunderstorms fire up during the day.

Severe weather risks are shifting this week back to Plains and Midwest while the weather in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states couldn't be better to start off this holiday week. In the Northern Plains today we have severe thunderstorm and elevated tornado risks for the Dakotas, Nebraska, Iowa and Minnesota. The riska area shifts eastward Tuesday and Wednesday in the Middle and Upper Mississippi River Valley from Missouri and Kansas northward into parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Tornado risk will also be elevated.

The combination of the remnants of Hurricane Beryl and a passing frontal boundary will result in a dual severe weather risk for the Northeast, bringing a rare tornado threat along with the chance of significant flooding through at least Thursday morning.
