Bronny James has struggled to acclimate to the NBA level of play. In his first four games in the NBA Summer League, James has gone 0-15 from the three-point line, and just 7-31 from the field. He is shooting just 22.5% from the field so far, an incredibly poor stat line from the 55th overall pick in this year's draft.

Bronny's first game with the Lakers came against the Sacramento Kings , as part of the Summer League's California Classic, where he went just 2-9 from the field and 0-3 from beyond the arc, putting up 4 points and 2 assists.

In his second game, playing against the Miami Heat , Bronny went 1-3 from the field and 0-1 from the three-point line, with 3 points, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. It was a good defensive showing from James, but another poor offensive outing.

With the Summer League now in Las Vegas, the Lakers took on the Rockets in Bronny's third game. He had a rough shooting night, with lots of shot attempts. He went 3-14 from the field, including 0-8 from long range. He ended the game with 8 points and 2 steals, his highest scoring total in the tournament so far.

His fourth game came last night, where James went 1-5 from the field, and 0-3 from three, putting up just 2 points in the game against the Boston Celtics . James missed some good shots and even had an embarrassing airball.

Unfortunately for Bronny, that shot wasn't his only airball of the game, as he would have another one from beyond the arc.

It has been a tournament to forget for Bronny James, who has not played anywhere close to his best. Perhaps he will be able to take away some important lessons and apply them to the Lakers' preseason and the G-League, where he is expected to play for the majority of next season .

Can Bronny James Reach The NBA Level Next Year?

While Bronny James may not be ready to play regular NBA basketball right now, next year could be a completely different story. James will have one year of experience playing both in the NBA and in the G-League and will understand how to adapt and tweak his game to find a role in the league.

JJ Redick said he would be working closely with Bronny over his role on the team and has communicated to the rookie what he needs from him on the defensive end of the court.

Bronny James isn't ready for the NBA yet, as he just isn't at that level. In fact, Jaylen Brown could be seen telling Kysre Gondrezick that he doesn't think Bronny is a pro during the Celtics' Summer League game against the Lakers.

Bronny is averaging just 4.2 points per game in the Summer League so far and is clearly struggling. But this shouldn't come as a surprise, given how little he played for USC last year in the wake of his cardiac arrest. Prior to entering college, Bronny was an All-American and was considered one of the brightest young prospects in the country.

All James needs to do is focus on his game, learn how to adapt to the NBA, and figure out a balance that brings out the best in him. He has the next year if not longer, to do so. And if he can put all the pieces together, he has all the opportunity to be a success in the league.
