    Police K9 in York County with over a decade of experience passes away

    YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A police K9 in York County who has served around a decade on the force passed away Monday.

    K9 Captain Dargo was 12 years old when he passed away and was the partner to Lt. David Godfrey for 10.5 years, the York County Sheriff’s Office announced in a Facebook post .

    “Dargo loved every minute of being a police K-9,” the post reads. “The bond between the two of you was immediate and will forever be unbreakable. You were a perfect match. Captain Dargo will always be remembered as one of the biggest celebrities in York County and beyond.”

    K9 Dargo was born in Czechoslovakia in November 2011 and he was a purebred German Shepherd. His full name is  Dargo Bett Silver, according to the county sheriff’s website . Dargo was trained to detect explosives, tracking, searches and other detection abilities.
