Spain's Yamal also a European champion on social media

Spain teenager Lamine Yamal not only set a number of age records in his team's run to the Euro 2024 title, he was also a major social media star.

The Tiktok platform said on Tuesday that videos from the 17-year-old Yamal were viewed more than 170 million times during the month-long tournament which ended on Sunday, far more than any other player.

Looking at the 24 teams, hosts Germany led the way with 374 million views as players including Jamal Musiala and Toni Kroos performed in challenges and uploaded behind the scenes videos.

France followed with 241 million views ahead of runners-up England (184 million). Champions Spain were seventh here with 51 million clicks.

Tiktok said the Euro-related content views overall were close to 3.5 billion.
