All eyes were on 17-year-old Brianna Farnsworth as she was presented the crown for the 2024 Junior Fair queen during the annual Royalty Contest in the Youth Building at the 167th annual Crawford County Fair on Monday.

Farnsworth, who is the daughter of Nicole Gulau and Don Farnsworth, has been a member of the Dairy Maids and Gents 4-H Club for the past seven years.

“I do Department One 4-H projects which are judged the week before the fair begins. I wanted be more involved in the fair itself and as queen, I can do that,” Farnsworth said. “I thank everyone for their support. I am excited to represent our fair throughout the state."

Farnsworth was presented the crown by the outgoing queen, Lynae McKibben, after she and two other contestants answered questions, including some that were drawn from a fishbowl, as they vied for the title.

Gracie Stirm, 17, was given the crown of first runner-up by last year’s winner Caelinn Diekmann while the second runner-up title went to Linnea Gerlach, 17, who was crowned by the outgoing second runner-up Niyah Shipman.

Trinity Spackey named Junior Fair princess

The title of the 2024 Junior Fair princess went to Trinity Spackey. She was crowned by last year’s princess Sydney Link, and is the 15-year-old daughter of Corey and Erin Spackey.

The contestants touted 4-H and FFA as being important in their lives.

“The 13 years I have spent in 4-H have been the best,” Gerlach said. “I highly recommend that younger kids join. They will love it.”

The fair runs through Saturday and features food and drink stands, a variety of animals, including chickens, rabbits, cows, steers, pigs, sheep, lambs and amusement rides.
