    Open Burn Ban implemented in Tazewell County

    TAZEWELL, VA (LOOTPRESS) – An immediate ban on all open burning activities has been implemented in Tazewell County due to increased wildfire concerns .

    Tazewell County Administrator and Director for Emergency Management, Eric Young has reportedly instituted the ban with the goal of heightening safety measures and addressing the increased risk of wildfires, which has been exacerbated by recently dry weather conditions.

    The open burn ban will reportedly remain in effect until Thursday, July 25, 2024, and comprises bans on all outdoor burning activities including cooking conducted within charcoal grills or contained gas. The effort will serve to safeguard both the region’s natural environment and residents from the spread of wildfires.

    “Tazewell County remains committed to public safety and urges residents to exercise caution during this heightened period of wildfire risk,” said Tazewell County representatives in a statement.

    Violations of the burn band should be reported to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 988-0645.
