Erik ten Hag has extended an olive branch to Jadon Sancho at Manchester United , signaling the end of their previous disagreement that had put the winger's future at Old Trafford in jeopardy.

Sancho is back in first-team training with United and could be given a lifeline by Ten Hag following a heart-to-heart at Carrington last week, mending their rift ahead of pre-season training. The $93m (£72m/€85m) signing from Borussia Dortmund is yet to live up to the billing.

The 24-year-old was tipped to exit the club after spending the latter half of last season on loan back at Dortmund. Sancho had been ousted from United's first-team squad in September when he accused Ten Hag of dishonesty regarding his omission from the matchday squad against Arsenal.

Ten Hag claimed Sancho was dropped due to subpar performances in training, a claim which the England winger publicly disputed. After refusing to apologize, he was removed from the first-team group and trained solo.

As recently as May, United was planning to offload Sancho, but Dortmund's interest hasn't solidified and Julian Brandt has taken over Sancho's No. 10 shirt, leading to a reconciliation at United. Ten Hag has played it cool on Jadon Sancho's future at Manchester United , keeping cards close to his chest about their discussions.

However, he hinted at a fresh start for the former Manchester City winger, saying: "As we said, we draw the line. Manchester United need good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on."

Liverpool.com says: The fact that Ten Hag got a new contract at Manchester United is great news for Liverpool and the rest of the Premier League. The Sancho situation is just one of a number of things that he has appeared to get wrong. It will be fascinating to see what happens if the results don't go the way of the Dutchman in the first few weeks of the new campaign.
