Thoughts on first day of the 2024 Republican National Convention

It was a great first day for the convention. J.D. Vance and Donald Trump showed up and Vance was nominated as vice president.

We are an excited and unified party, and we are going to win Pennsylvania. There were more than 20 speakers on Day 1 (Monday). The theme was party unity and making America wealthy again today.

We are unified and focused and Trump will win Beaver County with the help of U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio.

Vance spoke at the Beaver County GOP dinner in February. He is well versed and a new generation of leadership for the GOP. He is battle-ready and tested. He brings young energy to the party.

Tuesday starts with Laura Trump and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson speaking to the Pennsylvania delegation at breakfast.

Mike McMullen of the North Hills section of Allegheny County is at the 2024 GOP National Convention in Milwaukee as a delegate for U.S. House District 17, which includes Beaver County. This is his sixth convention appearance. McMullen will be providing daily dispatches from the convention floor to The Times from the convention. He can be reached on Facebook, X and Instagram.
