Leo Quakgebauer: German decathlon star Neugebauer in a comic strip

German decathlon star and Olympic medal hope Leo Neugebauer has made it into the latest Mickey Mouse comic strip to be published on Friday.

Named Leo Quakgebauer, he is tasked to make Donald Duck's nephew triplets of Huey, Dewey, and Louie (Tick, Trick and Track in the German version) fit for a tug of war contest.

"Leo Neugebauer is not only an outstanding athlete, but also a strong role model for young people," said Johannes Kanty, editor in charge of the German-language edition.

"We are therefore all the more delighted that we were able to win him over for an exciting comic adventure and are keeping our fingers crossed for him for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris."

Neugebauer, 24, holds the world lead in the decathlon and is rated a gold medal contender for the Olympic competition on August 2 and 3.
