As Stellantis gears up to launch several electric vehicle models this year, the owner of the Jeep, Ram, Chrysler, Dodge and Fiat brands is offering buyers a choice of a home charging unit or $600 worth of credits as part of the package.
The home charging package includes a Level 2 charging unit, also valued at $600, with buyers picking up the cost of installation, according to the news release.
The company’s preferred installer is Qmerit, which has its administrative headquarters in Irvine, California. Numbers from Qmerit indicate that the national average cost for installation is $1,700-$1,800. The release said Qmerit will deliver a commitment-free estimate after buyers provide some information and photos, but it noted that the cost varies depending on an EV owner’s needs.
Stellantis said it’s also launching a Free2move Charge website and app to help guide customers through the buying process and charging options. The charging credits “can be used at public charging stations (DC and Level 2 chargers) across the country.”
The company’s initial EV offerings in the United States are to include the 2024 Fiat 500e, 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona, 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S and Recon and 2025 Ram 1500 REV pickup.
”As we introduce our all-electric vehicles this year in the U.S., we want to ensure that our customers easily understand the charging options available to them before or upon purchase,” Mathilde Lheureux, head of the company’s energy and charge business unit, said in the release.
The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer S, slated for availability in the United States beginning in the fall at a starting manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $71,995, including destination, is among Stellantis' upcoming electric vehicle models. The automaker announced on Monday that buyers of the company's EVs will be able to choose either $600 in charging credits or an at-home charging unit as part of their purchase. Provided by Stellantis
The company noted that its Stellantis EVs and plug-in electric hybrid models currently come equipped with the J1772 charging port and that it will adopt the upcoming SAE J3400 charging connector, the system used by Tesla, starting with select EVs launching for the 2026 model year.
